a carnival of animals.

i was invited to photograph Erika Ruegemer & one dance co. as they preformed scene & herd: a carnival of animals.  it was a beautiful whirlwind of excitement and magic.  this dance took over the streets and invited onlookers to become a part of the herd if only for a moment.  they started out dancing amongst the people viewing art in RoCo and moved out on to the side park and east ave.  please enjoy a glimpse into an experience that left me in awe.  enjoy, xoxo.

my favorite summer day...so far.

i just celebrated my birthday last weekend and it turned out to be my favorite summer days so far.  i spent the afternoon with some of my favorite people outside under the sun picking strawberries!  by far one of my favorite things about upstate new york is the ability to really enjoy and take advantage of all four seasons.  and nothing says summer like fresh air, lots of sun and fresh strawberries.  so enjoy the pictures and experience a little bit of my heaven :) xoxo.

(behind restaurant 2 vine).  check out more process images on facebook and www.ourspyglass.com.  enjoy, xoxo.

tuesday with giubee.

this tuesday with giubee was inspired by a wonderful organization called, girls rock!  rochester.  their mission is to empower girls through music and creativity.  this is a powerful idea that i believe in with all my heart.  guibee is lucky to have creative people all around her in her life, and i truly believe this is where her strong, independent personality comes from.  check out girls rock! on their facebook page. enjoy, xoxo.

instant monday.

happy memorial day!  i hope you are enjoying your day off with friends and family.  we celebrated yesterday with some good friends and food!  today we celebrated by what else, thrifting (pics on thursdsay).  these instant images are from a shoot i did with fusion salon last fall.  this however, was so much more then just a shoot.  we met people that will stay in my heart forever. mel and su were the owners of this beautiful house and land outside of the city.  they were not only so generous with their time and place but with their food and hospitality.  this is a day i don't think any of us will forget.  enjoy xoxo.

puppylove.

Along with photography, and thrifting, animals are so very close to my heart.  I met a very special person last year when we were (attempting) to start puppy training with our Posey.  Mary, rescues dogs that are about to be put down (mostly in North and South Carolina) and fosters them until they are ready to be adopted.  She recently rescued Torri (a shepherd mix) who was pregnant.  She is "sponsored" by Pitty Love so any donations to support Pitty Love Rescue helps in paying for vet care for Torrie and her puppies. You can donate via the paypal donate link on the website.

I have been lucky to be able to photograph these babies since they were born.  Their names are Willow, Kale, Moss, and Fern.  I am very partial to Willow, she is an absolute doll.

If you know anyone who is interested in adopting Torrie or one of her puppies, tell them to apply at www.pittyloverescue.org
The puppies will be 7 weeks old and will be ready to go home sometime between April 20th and May 4th.

raspberry avocado smoothie.

Ingredients:
Coconut Milk.
Agave.
Fresh Raspberries.
Avocado.
Ice.
Siggi's Acai and Mixed Berries Yogurt.

This is a go to smoothie for me (sometimes I will add a banana) especially during the warmer months.  I am always trying to sneak in avocados as much as I can to my diet.  One of my (many) favorite things in the world.

Blend together ingredients for a delicious, refreshing smoothie.  Add agave to taste and more if you like a sweeter smoothie.

The Siggi's yogurt is so yummy and so good for you.  There is no gelatin, no added sugar and it is very high in protein.

Check out hello, scrumptious for some more recipes.

Gezellig at THE YARDS (4.01.2012)

Sunday was the final Gezelling of the season and what a way to conclude such a beautiful season.  We have seen an array of artists in the forms of cooking, painting, photography, and now furniture design.  Seth Eshelman from Staach really raised the bar for the next artists to come.  When you first walked in to the space it was unrecognizable, he had transformed it to a place of wonder.  There was delicious smelling wood everywhere!  He thought of everything, from the candle lit "bonfire" to the perfectly constructed sushi plate (that I got to take home!).  It is so hard to put in to words the details that surrounded you as you walked in, so I really hope you can get a sense of what it felt like through my photographs.

The food was prepared by Andrea Parros, which was delicious and vegan.  I was so excited to try her variations on sushi because I am so used to eating simply avocado sushi with the occasional sweet potato roll from Sakura Home.  The yummy dessert was created by the lovely girls of Eat Me. Love them!

Marissa from Intersteller Love Craft was there as well with her jewelry that was inspired by the installation.  I have one piece by Marrisa and I can't wait to purchase more.  If you haven't checked her work yet, please do!

Please enjoy as you step into Seth's world.  xoxo.

To see more from this magical night (the yummy food, the beautiful jewelry, the bonfire...), check out The Yards facebook page!
